Obituary for
Mae Tilley
Mrs. Mae Tilley of Jacksonville, Arkansas, formerly of Newport, departed this life on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the age of 79. She was born May 10, 1938, at Amagon, the daughter of Moody L. and Linnie Mae (Campbell) Kirksey.
Mrs. Tilley practiced cosmetology for 10 years. She then worked for Wal-Mart as a district distributor to the jewelry departments, until her retirement in1996, after 15 years service.
Mrs. Tilley enjoyed sewing, collecting photographs, and decorating her home. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Tilley was an active member of the Newport First Baptist Church until she moved to Jacksonville in 2015. She will be remembered as a Christian woman who was devoted to her husband, her family, and the church.
Mrs. Tilley was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Leo D. Tilley on June 13, 2015; one son, Steven Ray Tilley on June 8, 2010; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Tilley on December 4, 1956; one brother, Jackie Kirksey; and two sisters, Ada Belle (Kirksey) Koettel and Wanda Loretta Kirksey.
She is survived by one son, Rickey Tilley and wife, Tammy, of Little Rock; two brothers, Moody L. Kirksey of St. Louis, Missouri, and Presley Kirksey of Searcy; and one grandson, Parker Hayes of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, November 3, 2017, 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Bobby Sharp officiating. Interment will be at Watson Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Koettel, Roger Bowman, Paul Kirksey, and Rick Pickles. Honorary pallbearers are Moody Lee Kirksey and Presley Kirksey.
