Mrs. Joan Keel Brown of Heber Springs, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the age of 80. She was born January 31, 1937 in the Ingleside Community of Newport, the daughter of John Peyton and Gladys (Spencer) Keel.
Mrs. Brown was a 1954 graduate of Newport High School, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She owned and managed a real estate management company in Memphis, after working as an insurance underwriter with John Minor Company in Newport, and a Memphis insurance company. During the time she lived in Fort Smith, Mrs. Brown worked as an interior decorator.
She was a vibrant, beautiful lady, who was passionate about life. As a young woman, she learned to pilot a Cessna plane. Mrs. Brown was an animal lover, and enjoyed landscaping and creating beauty in her home and yard. Most importantly, she loved her family and friends.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Will Brown and her parents.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary K. Henry of Heber Springs, Pat Holk and husband, Dr. Fred Holk, of Heber Springs, and Trudy Keel of Heber Springs; two brothers, John Keel and wife, Alethea, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Franklin Wright Keel and wife, Linda, of Goodyear, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, November 3, 2017, 11:00 a.m. until 12:00p.m. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Watson Cemetery.
